The tour begins from the meeting point (either from your accommodation or from anywhere you wish).
Our first stop is at the Parthenon, a temple built in honour of Goddess Athena at the top of the Acropolis hill built in the 5th century BC.
The next stop will be at Hadrian’s Gate constructed in 131 AD in honour of the arrival of Hadrian, the Roman emperor. Behind the Hadrian Gate there is the temple of Zeus the construction of which began in the 6th century BC built entirely of white marble from Mount Penteli,with its construction starting in the 6th century BC. Afterwards, we will be heading for the Kallimarmaro Stadium (meaning quality marble). Its construction commenced in the 6th century BC and the contemporary Olympic Games took place there in 1896. Our next stop will be at the Trilogy a building complex of three (3) public structures of neoclassical architecture in Panepistimiou St, the National Library, the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and the mansion of the Academy of Athens. After that, we will be paying a visit to the Greek Parliament and watch the disciplined and synchronised pace of the guards during the change of guard at the Tomb of the Uknown Soldier. Then, we will be ascending the Mount Lycabettus, a hill with a stunning view of the whole city. At the top there is the church of St George. Our next stop is Plaka area built all around the archaeological area of the Ancient Market in which there is the temple of Hephaestus, widely known as Thiseio, one of the best-preserved monuments of the Market and the best extant Doric order temple in Greece built in the 5th century BC. After our visit there, you will have the chance to eat at a traditional Greek tavern before visiting the Acropolis museum which is one of the most significant archaeological museums with findings from the surrounding area. Lastly, before we take you back to your accommodation, we will be visiting the temple of Dionysius the Areopagite an orthodox church built in 1931.
